Charley is the Director of Public Affairs at CLEAT where he serves as legislative director, chief lobbyist in the Capitol, editor of the Texas Police Star, media spokesperson, field campaign director, PAC Treasurer, and public affairs director of the Peace Officer Memorial Foundation, a charitable organization. |

Chris Jones
Deputy Director
In October 2010, Chris retired from the Houston Police Department after 31 years of service. He has also been a member of CLEAT for 30 years and has worked for CLEAT over 25 years as a consultant or part-time employee. Upon his retirement, Chris was hired by CLEAT full time to work in the Public Affairs Division. Over the years, Chris has developed expertise in the technical aspects of the legislative process, including drafting legislation, amendments, position papers and bill analyses. He has a B.S. degree in Criminal Justice from the University of Houston. |

Melinda Griffith
Public Affairs Coordinator
Melinda grew up in the small town of Bridge City. She worked at Strong Pipkin law firm for over three years while attending college, and graduated Magna Cum Laude from Lamar University with a BA in Political Science. Melinda was in the Texas Legislative Internship Program under Senator Rodney Ellis of Houston, and worked in the office of State Representative Norma Chavez of El Paso, before coming to CLEAT. |
