EAST TEXAS -- The Combined Law Enforcement Associations of Texas is proud to lead the East Texas Public Safety Tour this week on behalf of state Rep. Bryan Hughes, a true friend of Texas peace officers.

“Representative Hughes has been an unwavering ally of the men and women who serve their communities as law enforcement officers,” said CLEAT Executive Director Charley Wilkison. “He has never failed to stand up for law enforcement during his 12 years in the Texas House, and CLEAT is proud to stand with him in his campaign for Senate District 1.”

During the 2015 Legislative Session, Rep. Hughes led the successful charge to double the state’s death benefits from $250,000 to $500,000 for the survivors of fallen law enforcement officers. That effort earned him the distinction of being this year’s sole recipient of the “CLEAT Visionary Leadership Award.”

Lt. Gov. Dan Patrick joined the tour to back Rep Hughes in the March 1 GOP Primary.
