CLEAT continues an exclusive partnership with national trainers Dave & Besty Smith.  Former police lieutenant Dave Smith is an internationally known speaker, writer and law enforcement expert.

Dave began his police career with the Tucson Police Department and in 1978 he joined the Arizona Department of Public Safety. As a career police officer, Dave held positions in Patrol, SWAT, Narcotics, Training and Management. In 1980, he developed the iconic “Buck Savage” video training series. Many of the videos are still used in law enforcement training academies today. He has been training officers throughout the US and internationally ever since.  He partners with his wife, Sgt. Betsy Brantner Smith, who retired in 2009 as a 29-year veteran of the Naperville, IL Police Department.  Both Dave & Betsy are both integrally involved in the content and production of the online training offered by PoliceOne Academy.

In 2017, Dave & Betsy will be teaching their “Beyond Off Duty Survival” class in number of locations throughout Texas.  In this highly charged and entertaining class, Dave and Betsy Smith teach officers what off duty threats they may face and how to respond safely and tactically. They also discuss family firearms safety, officer ambush, levels of risk, home attacks and how to bring your family into “the law enforcement world” in a safe and healthy manner.  But this class goes “beyond off duty survival” and provides attendees with real-world solutions, resources and tips to not only win on the street but “WIN” at life.  Officers  are encouraged to bring their spouses or “significant other” with them to this class.  And both can attend at no charge.
