FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Austin, Texas, August 31, 2017 - The Combined Law Enforcement Associations of Texas or CLEAT, has announced as of Thursday morning that the 41st Annual CLEAT Convention that was to be held in Fort Worth this year has been cancelled.
The convention was to take place September 7-9 in Fort Worth, but due to the devastating events caused by Hurricane Harvey the organization’s efforts will be refocused to assist first responders in their efforts to save lives and protect property along the Texas coast.
“With our brave men and women being deployed into harm’s way we believe our staff and resources should remain focused on our work assisting Texas’ finest,” said Charley Wilkison, CLEAT Executive Director.
For the first time in its 41-year history, the CLEAT Executive Board voted unanimously to cancel the 41st Annual CLEAT Convention this morning at 10 AM. CLEAT is the largest statewide law enforcement union in Texas.
