A Message from CLEAT Executive Director: COVID-19

Date Posted: March 13, 2020

Charley Wilkison CLEAT Executive Director

The safety and health of our fellow Texans, including you, our member, and our dedicated staff at CLEAT remain our focus. Accordingly, we are taking the concerns associated with the novel Coronavirus (COVID-19) very seriously and are monitoring this rapidly evolving situation closely.

We are following the advice of the Centers of Disease Control (CDC) and want to keep you informed on the immediate steps we are taking to help prevent the spread of the virus. Of course, we are encouraging all Texas law enforcement personnel to rigorously follow the personal hygiene recommendations made by the CDC, and we are continuing our cleaning practices at our offices across the state to support a healthy and safe environment.

At this time we know of no CLEAT member, family members or employees who have been exposed or tested positive. We are prepared for that to change. If you are in need of our services after having been exposed please tell us in advance so that our employees making contact with you can take proper precautions and be knowledgeable of the situation. Any employee that becomes ill or tests positive will self-quarantine and we will restructure our dedicated staff accordingly.

Make note that our Public Affairs Division posted some information yesterday about protecting our members as well as how to seek financial coverage for testing.

If you are involved in an officer involved shooting or other critical incidents please contact us directly 800 75 CLEAT.

As of today, our offices across the state will remain open.  We will continue to actively review the direction provided by the CDC as well as local government officials, and will update you on the actions we are taking and will update our social media channels and website regarding any temporary closings.

We thank you for your service to Texas. We deeply appreciate the trust you’ve placed in us by being a CLEAT member. God Bless Texas' Finest and Stay Safe.
