Executive Board Meeting Highlights
During the first Executive Board meeting of 2026, Vice President Danny Diaz stepped down after many years of dedicated service to CLEAT and its membership. Danny’s tenure on the Board, including his time as Vice President and member of the Finance Committee, reflected a deep commitment to strengthening the organization and advocating for Texas law enforcement officers.
“Danny’s service and leadership have helped shape this organization,” said CLEAT President Scott Leeton. “We’re grateful for the impact he’s made and the example he set.”
Following Danny’s departure from the Vice President role, Johnny Perez, formerly the San Antonio Region Director, was nominated to serve as Vice President and will fulfill the term. With experience on the Board and with the San Antonio Police Officers Association, Johnny has a long track record of putting members first and supporting CLEAT’s work on their behalf.
Stepping into the open position as San Antonio Region Director is SAPOA’s Carlos Ortiz. Carlos is well respected for his strong focus on supporting officers and members throughout their careers and has been active with SAPOA and CLEAT’s legislative efforts at the Capitol.
“Both Johnny and Carlos understand that serving our members comes first,” Leeton added. “I’m confident they’ll lead with integrity and purpose.”
Additional highlights from the meeting included organizational updates from CLEAT leadership, a special presentation on Patrol Mode Tactical Training by Laredo PD CLEAT member Lt. Cantu, and the recognition of Member Services Director Kristi Hill, who received her award celebrating 30 years of dedicated service to CLEAT.
